Job description

BFBS, The Forces Station, is seeking experienced Radio Presenter-Producers for 12-month vacancies aimed at broadcasting to British audiences in the UK and overseas.

During your year at BFBS, you will establish yourself as a Forces Broadcaster at a local radio station in the UK, most likely in Oxfordshire or Essex, before potentially relocating overseas for a detachment within the military community.

Your role involves presenting a Mon-Fri daily music radio show tailored to the military community, featuring your own speech packages, interviews, and interactive segments, alongside a mix of new music and classics.

Requirements include:

  • Recent experience in live music radio presenting in a self-op studio with industry-standard systems.
  • Experience in researching, recording, producing, and editing speech content such as interviews and documentaries.
  • Flexibility to relocate within the UK initially, and overseas later, with accommodation in single-living quarters.
  • A keen interest in Forces life and community engagement; prior military experience is not necessary.
  • A full driving license and personal vehicle for travel to remote military bases.

Application process:

  • Submit your CV and a cover letter explaining why you're suitable for the role (combine into one document).
  • Email an MP3 demo (max 3 minutes) with at least 3 radio links and a factual package or interview to opportunities@bfbs.com. The demo should be original content, not made specifically for the demo.

Applications must include your CV, cover letter, and MP3 demo. The closing date is Sunday 18 May 2025. Early closure may occur if suitable applications are received.
