(BF4895) – Environmental Health Officer/Environmental Protection Officer – Sussex

Location: Sussex
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 3-month (potential for extension)
Salary/Rate: Competitive

Buckingham Futures have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer/Environmental Protection Officer to join a local authority in Sussex. This role is to start ASAP on an initial 3-months contract, with a strong potential for extension.
We’re keen to hear from professionals with experience in Environmental Protection, Food Safety or ideally both. If you have a strong interest in either area, the client is open to considering splitting the role accordingly.

Key Areas of Work/Responsibilities:

Environmental Protection

  • Working in a multidisciplinary team covering air quality, land contamination, permitting, and acoustics
  • Responding to noise and nuisance complaints from commercial and industrial sources
  • Reviewing contamination reports, commenting on planning applications, and providing pollution control advice

Food Safety

  • Inspecting low-risk food businesses (Categories C and E)
  • Conducting food hygiene and food standards inspections
  • Managing related enforcement activities
  • A minimum of 2 years post-qualification food safety experience is required

Requirements:

  • Degree, Diploma, or MSc in Environmental Health
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Strong communication, organisation, and the ability to work independently
