Job summary

Cafs is seeking Better Futures Practitioners to join our Youth Services team. You will work directly with young people transitioning from care, building strong therapeutic relationships and supporting goals across housing, education and employment.

SW4 and SW5 classifications are available on a 0.8 FTE, 12-month fixed-term basis, with pro rata salaries; benefits include above-award entitlements and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Welfare, Family Therapy or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong therapeutic relationships with young people.
  • Support goals across housing, education, employment, wellbeing and community connection.
  • Advocate for young people and coordinate supports around them.
  • Manage brokerage funding and referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with carers, care teams and partner agencies.
  • Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based support that helps young people achieve meaningful outcomes.

Part Time 0.8 | 12 Month Fixed Term Contract | SW4 & SW5 Classifications

SW4 Classification: $92,437 to $99,452 pro rata
SW5 Classification: $105,736 to $110,518 pro rata

About the Role

As a Better Futures Practitioner, you'll work directly with young people transitioning from care, helping them develop the confidence, skills and connections needed for adulthood.

You will:

  • Build strong therapeutic relationships with young people.
  • Support goals across housing, education, employment, wellbeing and community connection.
  • Advocate for young people and coordinate supports around them.
  • Manage brokerage funding and referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with carers, care teams and partner agencies.
  • Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based support that helps young people achieve meaningful outcomes.

SW4 positions focus on direct case management and supporting young people to achieve their goals.

SW5 positions provide opportunities to work with more complex cases, mentor practitioners and contribute to practice leadership across the program.

About You

You will bring:

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Welfare, Family Therapy or a related discipline.
  • Experience in youth work, case management, community services or out-of-home care.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to child safety, inclusion and culturally responsive practice.
  • A genuine belief in the potential of young people.
