BESS Senior Project Manager

One of our international clients is looking for a Bess Senior Project Manager for the Italian market:

The candidate will oversee the development, financing, construction, and operation of energy storage projects in Italy. The candidate must have experience in delivering major infrastructure projects throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. Support will be provided by the company's experienced commercial and operational teams in the UK. The ideal candidate is an experienced Infrastructure Project Manager with skills in legal, finance, technical, and asset management aspects to oversee greenfield site development, financial close, and successful operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Scoping and Development

1. Work with the company's in-country origination partners to develop project scopes.
2. Assist in project design, permitting, and grid connection applications.
3. Support the commercial team in developing country-specific and market-facing contract suites.
4. Prepare, negotiate, and execute project documents during development, including supply agreements, design and construct/balance of plant agreements, and long-term operations and maintenance agreements, aiming for bankable projects.

Tender Process Design and Management

1. Design an efficient process to obtain optimal pricing and solutions from potential contractors and suppliers.
2. Manage interactions with suppliers to ensure a fair and effective process.
3. Visit suppliers and respond to queries.

Financial Close

1. Ensure project documentation satisfies legal, insurance, and technical due diligence.
2. Secure debt and equity funding.

Construction Management

1. Manage design and construction of multiple assets across Italy and other European regions.
2. Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and timeliness in design, installation, and operation.
3. Manage supplier contracts, review contractor designs, and maintain relationships with stakeholders like National Grid, while providing regular reports.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

1. Strong academic background in technical and commercial areas.
2. Degree or equivalent in electrical or civil engineering preferred.
3. Experience managing infrastructure projects through all lifecycle stages.
4. Knowledge of renewable energy projects: Battery Storage, Solar PV, Wind, and Interconnection projects.
5. Ability to manage cross-cultural teams and travel as needed.
6. Self-motivated and autonomous work style.
7. Sound decision-making skills.
8. Resilient, clear communicator.
