Role

Climate17 - BESS Field Service Engineer

Climate17 is working alongside a well-established UK-based asset management firm specializing in the entire project lifecycle, from origination to operations of renewable energy and power generation assets.

The BESS Field Service Engineer will perform planned and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty repairs, and commissioning activities on energy storage units at various BESS sites.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain Energy Storage Systems by conducting regular inspections, maintenance, annual capacity tests, troubleshooting, and reactive maintenance.
  2. Perform system software and firmware upgrades.
  3. Monitor operational performance and assess data.
  4. Provide phone support and remote diagnostics to customers.
  5. Troubleshoot equipment at BESS sites.
  6. Manage spare parts inventory.
  7. Ensure safety standards and local safety regulations are followed.
  8. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
  9. Complete administrative duties such as timesheets, vehicle checks, and daily job logs.
  10. Assist the in-house system engineering team in product development and project work.
  11. Provide suggestions for product improvements based on field experience.
Requirements
  1. Qualification in electrical or electro-mechanical disciplines.
  2. ECS Gold Card (essential).
  3. Previous electrical or multi-skilled maintenance experience.
  4. Basic IT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, troubleshooting software).
  5. Qualification for safe site work.
  6. Ability to travel to different sites; overnight or international travel may be required.
  7. Experience with BESS (preferred).
  8. Knowledge of HV/LV power electronics (preferred).
  9. HVAC training and F-Gas qualification (preferred).
  10. Understanding of IT subjects, networking, and protocols (preferred).
  11. Relevant electrical testing and inspection qualifications (preferred).
  12. Familiarity with BS7671 (preferred).
  13. HV authorized person (preferred).
Location

Field-based, Bristol region.
