Job description

Role

Climate17 is working alongside a well-established, UK-based asset management firm specializing in the entire project lifecycle, from origination through to operations of renewable energy and power generation assets.

The BESS Field Service Engineer will perform planned and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty repairs, and commissioning activities on energy storage units at various BESS sites.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain Energy Storage Systems to a high standard through regular inspection, maintenance, annual capacity tests, troubleshooting, and reactive maintenance works.
  2. Perform system software and firmware upgrades.
  3. Monitor operational performance and assess data.
  4. Provide phone support and remote diagnostics to customers.
  5. Troubleshoot equipment located at BESS sites.
  6. Manage spare parts inventory.
  7. Ensure safety work complies with local safety regulations and standards.
  8. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
  9. Maintain administrative duties such as timesheets, daily vehicle checks, and documenting daily job logs.
  10. Assist the in-house system engineering group in product development and project work.
  11. Provide suggestions based on field experience to improve products.
Requirements
  • Qualification in an electrical/electromechanical discipline.
  • ECS Gold Card – Essential.
  • Previous electrical or multi-skilled maintenance experience.
  • Basic IT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, troubleshooting software).
  • Qualification for working safely on site.
  • Willingness to travel to different sites; overnight stays or international travel may be required.
  • Experience with BESS – preferred.
  • Knowledge of HV/LV power electronics, inverters, converters, transformers – preferred.
  • HVAC training and F-Gas qualification – preferred.
  • Strong IT knowledge, including networking and protocols – preferred.
  • C&G2391-5 Test & Inspect or equivalent – preferred.
  • Familiarity with BS7671 – preferred.
  • HV authorized person – preferred.
