Job summary

Pertemps Bond is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop bespoke machinery from concept to manufacture and commissioning. You will work across multidisciplinary teams, delivering cost-effective solutions meeting customer specifications on varied projects.

Key responsibilities include creating detailed drawings, BOMs, and CAD models; performing calculations and tolerances; and ensuring compliance with standards. Onsite in Kettering with a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience as Mechanical Design Engineer in systems, special purpose machinery, material handling, or manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar.
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, fabrication, and machining processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.
• Strong communication and team-working abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke machinery, systems, and mechanical assemblies using 3D CAD software.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Develop innovative mechanical solutions based on customer specifications and project requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design reviews.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support machine build, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding technical requirements and project progress.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, health and safety requirements, and industry regulations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
