What you will do:

  1. Engage directly with families to maximise their income and assist them in accessing benefit entitlements, discretionary payments, or social tariffs.
  2. Provide advice and practical support with finances to parents/carers, working closely with colleagues in Children's Services and other agencies.
  3. Conduct thorough investigations of family circumstances for accurate assessment of income and capital while undertaking benefit checks.
  4. Calculate overpayments, handle debt arrangements, and provide first-stage debt advice including budgeting and income maximisation strategies.
  5. Collaboratively work as part of a multi-agency team, contributing to assessments and developing holistic, family-led plans.
  6. Ensure case records are maintained to professional standards and comply with data protection regulations.
  7. Participate in team meetings, contribute to service development, and share knowledge on legislative or benefit assessment changes.
