Job Description:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to all stage 1 assigned casework / follow-ups, Members Enquiries, MP enquiries, Mayor & Cabinet Enquiries, and Freedom of Information requests within the standard KPI turnaround time. Assisting with stage 2 escalated complaint investigations as needed.
  • Tracking, monitoring, and prioritising business-critical casework responses and FOI requests by deadline or instructions from management.
  • Implementing effective casework management and investigation methods to explore all enquiries thoroughly, manage expectations, and provide solutions to resolve disputes and other casework.
  • Collaborating across all service areas to gather information and respond comprehensively to assigned casework.
  • Promoting a 'one council' approach, sharing best practices, and implementing lessons learned to improve service delivery.
  • Identifying and mitigating safeguarding risks by thoroughly exploring and completing necessary actions to ensure safety of the public and staff.
  • Assisting colleagues in determining casework ownership within the service or other directorates.
  • Working with other directorates to deliver joint casework responses effectively.
  • Undertaking additional duties as required, including working at any location within Hackney borough, possibly including weekends.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in Local Government or similar government/political organizations.
  • Strong understanding of challenges facing local and national government, especially regarding benefits, Council tax reduction schemes, and statutory obligations under Part 7 (Homelessness) & Part 6 (Allocations) of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months. If enrolled in the update service, you may be fast-tracked through recruitment.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if not already held.
