Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Secondary School based in Poole who are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant for September 2025. This is an OFSTED rated ‘Good’ school where staff collaborate and aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate considering a career in teaching or a Teaching Assistant with behavioural management experience.

About the role:

  • Start date: 8thSeptember
  • Ongoing/long-term
  • Opportunity to earn £89.38 to £95 per day (dependent on experience)

As a Behavioural Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include supporting students who display challenging behaviour, helping them to regulate emotions, make positive choices, and engage effectively in their learning. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement individual behaviour plans, monitor student progress, and provide regular feedback. You may deliver targeted interventions, both 1-1 and in small groups, aimed at improving social skills and resilience. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining a calm and supportive environment within the classroom and across the school, de-escalating incidents when necessary and contributing to the overall behaviour strategy of the school.

What we’re looking for:

  • Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working with young people experiencing behavioural challenges is essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both staff and students
  • A genuine passion for the development of young students
