Job summary

A local government council is seeking a passionate Behavioural Analyst to improve outcomes for care-experienced children. In this temporary role, you will assess behaviors, design personalized support plans, and provide therapeutic work within a multidisciplinary team. A Master's in Applied Behaviour Analysis and experience with traumatized children are essential. This position follows a hybrid working policy with weekend duties required.

Behavioural Analyst - Children's / Fostering - Temporary

37 hours per week. Fixed Term up to March 2028.

Are you passionate about improving outcomes for care-experienced children and young people? Do you have a strong background in Behaviour Analysis and trauma-informed approaches? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our innovative Placement Support Team within Bridgend County Borough Council's fostering service.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Behaviour Analyst to work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team supporting children living in foster care and those returning home through reunification. You will use your expertise to:

  • Deliver behaviour assessments and design personalised support plans
  • Provide direct therapeutic work with children and young people
  • Mentor and train foster carers and staff on behavioural strategies and trauma-informed practice
  • Collaborate with the wider network around the child to ensure consistent and effective support
  • Contribute to placement planning and help maintain placement stability

About You:

Requirements:

  • A Master's level qualification in Applied Behaviour Analysis (or equivalent)
  • Registration with Social Care Wales (or be eligible to register)
  • Experience of working with children who have experienced trauma and present with complex behaviours
  • Strong skills in designing, delivering, and evaluating behaviour support interventions
  • A positive, collaborative approach to working with carers, professionals, and families

Experience within fostering or community settings is desirable, but not essential. The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees. An Enhanced with Adults & Children's Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office. Weekend working is a requirement of this post.
