Job Title: Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Dorchester
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Dorchester. This full-time, permanent opportunity offers an immediate start and is ideal for someone with a background in supporting young people with additional needs.

About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students who display challenging behaviours, often linked to social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). You will support them both in and out of the classroom, building trusting relationships and helping them develop self-regulation, confidence, and a sense of belonging within the school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Use a range of strategies to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Work alongside teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to create a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Encourage pupils' engagement, emotional development, and self-esteem.
  • Monitor progress and report regularly to senior staff on student outcomes.
  • Help maintain a safe and supportive atmosphere within the classroom and across the school.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students who have behavioural challenges in schools or similar environments.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience to support students in managing their behaviour and emotions effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work well with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, helping to create a positive school community.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
