Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy is seeking a confident, resilient Behaviour Support Worker to promote positive behaviour and help students reach their full potential. You will support the school's on-call behaviour system and work with students to foster engagement and success.

The role involves liaising with staff, parents and pastoral leaders, administering sanctions and interventions, and contributing to safeguarding and anti-bullying procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised and able to work independently within a pastoral team.

Responsibilities

St John Houghton are seeking a confident, resilient and proactive Behaviour Support Worker to help promote positive behaviour and support students in achieving their full potential.

You will:

  • Have experience working with young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Be able to build positive and professional relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Remain calm under pressure and confidently manage challenging behaviour.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be organised and able to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Use initiative, work independently and contribute effectively as part of a wider pastoral team.
  • Have an understanding of the factors that influence pupil behaviour and strategies to promote positive behaviour.
  • Be competent using IT systems and administrative processes.
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and committed to supporting young people to succeed.
  • Share the values, ethos and commitment to safeguarding expected within a Catholic school environment.
You will be responsible for:
