Vision for Education are recruiting for Behaviour Support Assistants for our SEN schools across West Sussex.
About The Role
Do you have a flair for building meaningful relationships and breaking down barriers to learning? Are you seeking a new opportunity to support pupils in managing their emotions and engaging more fully with their education? Would you like to work as a Behaviour Support Assistant?
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will provide support within the classroom, in small group settings, and on a one-to-one basis. You’ll use effective behaviour management strategies to assist pupils in regulating their behaviour while helping them to access and enjoy learning.
Our pupils are aged 5 to 16 and follow personalised learning plans tailored to their individual needs. Many have Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and complex needs, and the schools adopt a therapeutic, pupil-centred approach to both education and behaviour support.
A genuine passion for helping young people thrive is essential. An interest or background in the
arts, sports, or swimming would be a fantastic bonus, as these areas often serve as powerful tools for building rapport, boosting confidence, and promoting emotional wellbeing.
We are looking for an individual who has a passion for creating fun and engaging ways to support pupils and help them find school a safe, positive and enjoyable place to learn!
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Behaviour Support Assistant you will:
- DESIRED: Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 2/3 Early Years Educator
- DESIRED: Able to drive
- Ideally have prior school experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH or challenging behavioural needs.
- Be confident in behaviour management skills to de-escalate any threatening or aggressive behaviour.
- To mentor and engage with the pupils, delivering specifically designed educational packages.
- You will need to be resilient, empathetic, patient and not take things too personally.
Vision for Education is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
