Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people facing challenges in behaviour and mental health? If so, GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Barnet.

Role: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students from vulnerable backgrounds, helping them overcome barriers to learning and development. You will play a crucial role in providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that enables students to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Support students with SEMH needs, promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster self-confidence and resilience.
  • Implement behaviour support plans and tailored interventions to address individual needs.
  • Assist teachers in creating an inclusive classroom environment and adapting lessons where necessary.
  • Monitor and manage challenging behaviours, employing de-escalation strategies when required.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, incidents, and interventions.

Requirements of the Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or similar.
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques is highly desirable.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Competitive daily rates of pay (£85-£100 per day), based on experience.
