Behaviour Mentor

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Duration: Full time, on going

Salary: £100 – £125 per day

The School/role:

We are working with an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ Alternative Provision school based in Stoke-On-Trent that are seeking a strong, passionate, and resilient 1:1 teaching assistant to join their team.

The school are committed to offering a second chance to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) that may not thrive in mainstream education. Since their establishment, the school have provided a positive environment where every student is encouraged to succeed.

This role will require personalised assistance, fostering a supportive learning environment, and helping students overcome challenges they may face related to SEMH needs such as anxiety, behavioural difficulties, and social interaction. The ideal candidate for this role will be experienced in supporting SEMH needs in an alternative provision. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have an excellent ability to build positive relationships with students facing unique challenges.

A new enhanced DBS will be needed for this role or a subscription to the DBS update service.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant SEN Background
  • PECS and Makaton training/experience
  • ASD, SEMH, Non-verbal, PMLD, MLD, visual impairment needs experience
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate
  • Recent school-based references
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
  • Full DBS – on the update service
