GSL Education are currently searching for a passionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive and forward-thinking school community in Ossett. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals who are driven to inspire, guide, and empower young people to reach their full potential.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who face social, emotional, or behavioural challenges, supporting them to overcome barriers to learning and helping them to develop self-confidence and resilience. You’ll play a crucial part in creating a safe, positive, and nurturing school environment where every student feels valued and understood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and small group support to students with challenging behaviours.
  • Assist teachers in implementing effective classroom behaviour strategies and promoting positive engagement.
  • Help students develop coping mechanisms, emotional regulation skills, and strategies for success.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a role model and advocate.
  • Monitor and record student progress, contributing to individual education and support plans.
  • Support reintegration of students into mainstream classes after incidents or interventions.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in a behavioural support or educational capacity.
  • Excellent understanding of behaviour management techniques and restorative approaches.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, non-judgmental demeanour even under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of different students.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and fostering a positive school culture.
  • Have anupdated CV(covering thelast ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) andan enhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
