Job description

Smile Education are recruiting for a behaviour mentor to work in an SEN school near the Great Barr area. The school is committed to supporting staff and working hard collectively to ensure the best education for the student within their school.

The Behaviour mentor role would be working full time in a classroom setting with a student on a 1:1 basis, working Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30.

The Responsibilities of the Behaviour mentor:

  • Have a sole focus on working 1:1 Basis.
  • Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the child, staff and family members.
  • Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher regarding progress and potential methods of work.
  • Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.
  • Being consistent with the student and providing stability.

To apply for this Behaviour mentor, you will need:
  • An up-to-date DBS on the update service or dated within the last 12 months.
  • A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3).
  • Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups work.
  • Experience working with KS2/KS3 students.
  • At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.
