This is a hands‑on role for someone who already has substantial experience of working directly with children or young people. Your experience could have been gained within a school or education setting, behaviour or inclusion support, SEND, pastoral work, or another role involving significant responsibility for supporting young people.

The job title for this role is internally known as 'Internal Alternative Provision Coordinator'.

In this role, you'll:
  • Work one-to-one and with small groups of students, building positive and supportive relationships.
  • Help students develop the confidence, resilience and positive behaviours they need to engage with their education.

About you

Previous experience of working directly with children or young people is essential. You'll also:

  • Have experience gained in education, behaviour or inclusion support, SEND, pastoral work or another relevant child-focused environment.
  • Be confident supporting young people who may display challenging behaviour or face barriers to learning.
  • Build positive relationships while establishing clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Be patient, approachable and resilient, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Communicate confidently and effectively with students, colleagues and families.
  • Be motivated by the opportunity to help young people make positive changes and fulfil their potential.
