BrightPath Early Learning & Child Care in Marlborough is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Assistant on a full-time, contract basis. This role supports students using individualized plans, following teachers' guidance, and promoting learning, belonging and independence.

Responsibilities include implementing behavior strategies, documenting observations, assisting with personal care routines, and collaborating with staff to create positive outcomes for students.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or a certificate/diploma in a related field (ECE Level 1-3).
• Training in preventative/de-escalating behaviour, or willingness to become certified.
• Minimum one year experience with students with challenging behavior and positive behavior supports (asset).
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to become certified (asset).
• Equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered.

Responsabilités

• Provides assistance to students as identified in individualized plans, including those needing additional supports.
• Implements and reinforces strategies from teachers and student behaviour plans.
• Records observations and collects data on behavioral challenges to guide positive strategies.
• Participates in collaborative planning meetings for student planning.
• Assists in preparing individualized program materials under teacher direction.
• Promotes child learning, belonging and independence.
• Assists with emotional and behavioural regulation per student plans.
• Respects confidentiality and privacy of information related to children and staff.
• Supports daily living routines including toileting, lifts/transfers, hygiene and feeding.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $34.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to students as identified in their individualized plans including those students who require additional types of supports such as personal, medical care, lifts, transfers and safety needs


• Implements and reinforces strategies as directed by the teacher(s) and identified in various child’s behaviour support plans.


• Records observations and collects other data on behavioral challenges to be used to help guide and support positive behavior strategies for students


• Participates in collaborative planning meetings for child’s planning as requested


• Provides assistance with preparation of individualized program materials under the direction of the teacher


• Actively promotes child’s learning, belonging and independence


• Assists children with their emotional and behavioural regulation, including children who may display violent or aggressive behaviours in accordance with student plans.


• Respects confidentiality and maintains privacy of information related to children and personnel.


• Supports children with routine personal care activities and routines of daily living, including but not limited to toileting, lifts, transfers, movement, personal hygiene, eating, drinking, and feeding.

Education/Experience

• Educational Assistant Certificate or a certificate/diploma in a related field. ECE Level 1 - 3.


• Training in preventative/de-escalating behaviour, or willingness to become certified.


• Minimum one (1) year experience working with students with challenging behavior and applying positive behavior supports is considered and asset.


• CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified is considered an asset.


• An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered

• Demonstrated ability to carry out the plans and directions of teaching staff to assist students.


• Ability to build and maintain rapport with children and staff.


• Ability to adapt to dynamic situations, while successfully managing a high level of stress


• Ability to remain calm and responsive to students in highly elevated emotional states of dysregulation


• Ability to work effectively in collaborative team settings


• Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of complex and sensitive issues professionally and in a timely manner


• Excellent multi-tasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills


• Working knowledge of child development


• Strong written and verbal communication skills
