Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner - Children's Complex Trauma

Compass Associates is pleased to partner with an independent provider of children’s residential care homes and schools in the UK. This organisation supports children and young people facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, mental health difficulties, learning disabilities, and autism. They provide therapeutic environments designed to help residents recover from past traumas and develop the skills necessary for independent living or reintegration into family settings.

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and other professionals to design and implement evidence-based strategies that promote positive behaviour, enhance quality of life, and minimise the use of restrictive practices. This is a varied role that involves working across both educational and residential settings.

The Role

  • Conduct functional behaviour assessments to identify the causes of concerning behaviours and develop personalised Positive Behaviour Support plans.
  • Collaborate with individuals, families, and support teams to co-create effective interventions and ensure consistent application across home, school, and community settings.
  • Provide coaching and training to staff, families, and carers on PBS principles and strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, making necessary adjustments based on data analysis.
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and frameworks.

Requirements (Essential)

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field
  • Diploma in Positive Behaviour Support
  • Driving licence and car
  • Experience working with children

Requirements (Desirable)

  • Ability to train and support staff in PBS approaches
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Care Act)
  • BILD-certified training
  • Ongoing training and CPD support
  • Flexible working options
