Responsibilities
- Provide the highest standard of nursing care & be a role model to junior staff
- Responsible for the effective management of all acute/PICU referrals
- Carrying the delegated authority of the Hospital Manager and Clinical Manager for the referral process from receipt to admission decision
- Make admission decisions (approval for acceptance or rejection) in coordination with the Hospital Manager/Clinical Manager/On-Call Manager
- Ensure preliminary screening occurs immediately and additional information required for admission decision is requested and obtained promptly
- Review ward capacity to manage admissions objectively
- Complete the Referral Assessment Screening Score (RASS) and present clinical information using SBARD for decision-making
- Process all referrals and make decisions within 1 hour of receipt

- Experienced in inpatient settings, preferably acute or PICU
- Skilled in managing change, leadership, motivating & developing others
- Open, compassionate, honest & resilient
- Adept at conducting audits, developing, following-up & ensuring completion of action plans
- Well-informed about the Mental Health Act 1983 & current nursing practices
- Focused on patient recovery, monitoring, managing & reducing risk
