Brockenhurst College in New Milton is recruiting a Beauty Technician on a part-time, term-time basis to support the beauty department and its commercial training salons.

You will prepare treatment rooms, manage salon resources, assist with learner enrolments and open evenings, and ensure high standards of safety, hygiene and customer care in a learning environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
• Beauty Therapy qualification at Level 2 or above.
• Experience in professional beauty, spa or customer service environment.

Job description

Brockenhurst College are looking to recruit a Beauty Technician on a part time, term time only basis (30 hours, 38 weeks of the year). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,834 per annum (pro rata).

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

The Beauty Technician Role:

We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic and supportive Beauty Technician to help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our Beauty department and commercial training salons.

As our Beauty Technician, you will work closely with staff and learners, preparing practical learning environments, maintaining resources and equipment, supporting salon operations and providing administrative assistance. This is a varied role that combines practical, administrative and customer-facing responsibilities and plays an important part in supporting learners to develop industry-standard skills.

Responsibilities as our Beauty Technician:

Salon and Learning Environment Support

• Prepare treatment rooms, salons and practical learning spaces for lessons.
• Set up equipment, tools, products and resources for practical sessions.
• Maintain professional salon standards, ensuring learning environments are clean, organised and welcoming.
• Support the laundering and management of salon towels, linens and uniforms.
• Assist with the preparation of resources for practical and theory lessons.

Resources, Stock and Equipment

• Monitor and order stock, consumables, products and equipment.
• Prepare learner kits and resources as required.
• Maintain stock records and inventories.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned, disinfected and stored appropriately.
• Report maintenance issues and arrange servicing where required.
• Carry out routine equipment and safety checks.

Learner and Curriculum Support

• Provide support to staff and learners during practical sessions and assessments.
• Assist learners with treatment set-up and professional working practices.
• Support enrolment, registrations and awarding organisation processes.
• Assist with learner enquiries, including bursary-related queries where appropriate.
• Support open evenings, recruitment events, competitions and curriculum enrichment activities.

Commercial Salon Support

• Support the day-to-day operation of the commercial training salons.
• Welcome clients and assist with bookings.
• Process salon payments and maintain associated records.
• Support retail sales and customer service activities.
• Assist with the organisation of learner workshops and educational visits.

Administration and Compliance

• Maintain accurate records relating to stock, treatments, payments and resources.
• Assist with budget monitoring and purchasing processes.
• Maintain COSHH documentation and health and safety records.
• Support risk assessment and infection prevention procedures.
• Assist with quality assurance activities and awarding organisation visits.

As our Beauty Technician, you’ll ideally have:

• Level 2 English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
• Relevant Beauty Therapy qualification at Level 2 or above.
• Experience working within a professional beauty, spa, wellness or customer service environment.
• Experience of stock control, ordering and resource management.
• Experience providing high standards of customer care.
