Job description

Since 2010, our restaurants have celebrated the Irani cafes and all of the food and drink of Bombay. We have locations across London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and our Bar-Cafes in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford. Plus, a range of kitchens to ensure our guests can enjoy our food at home!

As well as running busy sites with big teams, we also understand the importance of doing more. From planting trees with our teams in the UK & India, tying Rakhis with our guests, to our dedication to helping to feed children through Meal for a Meal. As of January 2024, we have donated 20 million meals (and counting) to children in the UK and India. As a Dishoomwalle, you contribute 55 meals per shift to this cause.

We’re on the lookout for exceptional individuals who share our love of Bombay food, culture, and hospitality.

At Dishoom, we pride ourselves on creating bustling, welcoming spaces and fostering a team culture where people can truly flourish. If you’re a big-hearted Host, Server/Waiter/Waitress, Bartender, Bar Support or Runner with a relentless drive for quality and a commitment to making guests and teams alike feel valued and happy, we’d love to hear from you!

What to expect:

• Free team meals every shift, plus all the Chai you can drink!
• Competitive pay rate per hour inclusive of tronc (based on the last 3-month’s average across our London cafes). We pay on a monthly basis.
• A full-time role working across 5 days, Monday - Sunday availability required.
• A weekly changing rota provided at least 6 days in advance.
• We're an all day dining Cafe, meaning our teams work a variety of daytime and evening shifts (not the usual always late nights!)
• Access to our award-winning training programmes and support. We focus on your development from day one and proudly promoted 211 Dishoomwalles last year!
• The usual number of days holiday a year - paid for, including tronc. Our sites are closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and if you have children, we’ll provide one extra day to take them to their first day at school.
• No uniforms here - smart casual and comfortable is key, and of course trainers are fine.

In Dishoom, we see every team member as valuable and important to ensuring the all-around brilliant experience for our guests. We are looking for curious, energetic and helpful people to join our team as Food Runners.

So what are we looking for?

• Server/Waiter/Waitress: Previous work experience as a Server/Waiter/Waitress - at least 1 year minimum, in a high volume restaurant environment, following detailed steps of service (including Allergen procedures) and managing a busy section.
• Cocktail Bartender: Previous work experience as a Cocktail Bartender - at least 1 year minimum, in a high volume restaurant/ bar environment, with knowledge of all of the classics.
• Host: Previous work experience as a Host - at least 1 year minimum, in a high volume restaurant/ bar environment, following detailed steps of service and use of guest management systems.
• Food Runner/ Bar Support: If you haven’t worked in hospitality before, no problem, we’ll provide the right training and support to set you up for success. Previous work experience in a role - minimum 6 months is preferred - any industry.
• For all roles, a willingness to learn about food, drink and looking after people (guest and team alike).
