Boeing is seeking a System Safety Auditor to oversee internal and supplier audits for various programs. This role involves developing safety audit strategies and interacting with multiple teams to enhance safety standards across the business. The ideal candidate will possess solid experience in safety management and regulatory frameworks within engineering environments, ensuring compliance with MOD Defence Standards.

Boeing Defence United Kingdom LimitedWorking within the BDUK Safety and Quality Management Systems and reporting to the BDUK Fixed Wing and Digital System Safety and Environmental Engineering Manager and SMS Assurance Lead. The System Safety Auditor will be responsible for internal safety audits and supplier safety audits across a wide range of programmes against the requirements of the programmes Safety Management Plans and Def Stan 00-056.This role will have significant cross functional interfaces with the Quality management team. The Safety Engineering Audit role will support the maintenance and advancement of the approach to safety auditing in maintaining an effective safety reporting system providing good feedback in order to develop and sustain a positive safety culture.
The role has the following key responsibilities:
Support the Vertical Lift, Fixed Wing and Digital System Safety and Environmental Engineering Managers in the maintaining and further developing the Safety Audit programme and strategy for internal project and supplier audits.
Conduct safety audits, compile report and raise the necessary findings within the Quality Management System.
Monitor, track and review Safety Audit findings and actions and reports for timely and appropriate closure.
Maintain close liaison with the Quality Management team on audit process requirements and scheduling to minimize audit duplication across the business and suppliers to limit audit fatigue.
Liaise with Supplier Quality, Commercial and programme management teams on the conduct of supplier safety audits
Support external regulatory audits of BDUK Safety programmes.
Report status of Safety Audit findings to the relevant Safety Action Groups (SAGs) and programme Safety Review Boards.
Support trend analysis of internal and external safety audit findings to inform the safety audit programme.
Manage and coordinate the Corrective Action Boards (CAB) for System Safety and Environmental Engineering.
Contribute to the creation and continual development of documented processes and procedures.
Other job responsibilities may include providing assistance to the BDUK Safety Assurance Lead in the Design and Continuous Improvement of the SMS.
Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.
Essential competencies:
Experience in working in an engineering, maintenance or air environment
Formal safety management training including safety performance monitoring and oversight
Experience as an advanced user in safety reporting tools
Significant experience and knowledge of MOD Defence Standard 00-056
Strong regulatory knowledge
The candidate should possess good communication skills with a proven record in interacting successfully across multi-discipline teams
Lead Audit Training and experience, preferably to a recognized standard
The role will have significant UK MoD customer, supplier and wider Boeing interfaces and, therefore, a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is essential
Desirable but not essential competencies:
Relevant degree, or equivalent level of academic performance
Formal safety investigation training and experience
Chartered Engineer
Academic or industry training and/or experience in data analytics e.g. data analysis courses
Other Information:
Willingness and eligibility to undergo and obtain a SECURITY CHECK/CLEARANCE is required.
