As Battery Discharge Engineer you will be part of a leading facility based at our Research and Development site at Duddeston Mill Trading Estate, Saltley, Birmingham which offers candidates a clear pathway to progression.
This opportunity will require candidates to work 7:30am - 4pm Monday to Friday.
Candidates will need to be available W.C 4th November to attend an assessment centre at our Duddeston Mill facility.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Integrate and maintain battery cyclers for optimal safety and efficiency.
  • Program testing and discharging scripts tailored for various battery types.
  • Connect batteries to cyclers for thorough discharging and testing.
  • Communicate discharging status through utilisation documents.
  • Maintain all equipment per manufacturer’s or EMR’s procedures.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues, collaborating with Battery Engineers as needed.
  • Develop and follow standard operating procedures and local process documents.
  • Complete in-process records and documentation to ensure traceability.
  • Adhere to company Health & Safety requirements, including PPE usage.
  • Conduct and follow risk assessments.
  • Create routines and best practices to ensure product quality.
Key Deliverables
  • Safe operation of the facility.
  • Timely disassembly and discharging of batteries.
  • Accurate recording of all activities and stock movements.
  • Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and functional.
About You
  • Minimum BTEC or NVQ level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
  • IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
  • Mechanical competency.
  • Proactive learning attitude.
  • Maintain workplaces to 5S standards.
  • Practical problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting facts and data.
  • Awareness of electrical automotive high voltage systems.
  • Understanding of battery system fundamentals.
  • Experience with assembly/disassembly of complex electro/mechanical components.
  • Forklift truck operation.
  • Ability to set up and operate basic test equipment for diagnostic tests.
Behavioural Competencies
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Methodical record-keeping approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Special Requirements
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Willingness to conduct occasional site visits within the UK.
