Job summary

EMR is hiring a Battery Disassembly Technician to support the operation of EMR’s Battery Disassembly Facility, disassembling high voltage packs and modules and maintaining safety and traceability. You will operate battery cyclers for discharge/testing and assist with documentation, under EMR procedures.

You will join a committed team driving a net-zero future with progression opportunities within EMR’s battery recycling division, and gain hands-on experience with electrical automotive systems in

Qualifications

  • Minimum BTEC or NVQ level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
  • IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
  • Practical mechanical capability and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Removal and disassembly of high voltage batteries from vehicle to module level.
  • Connect batteries to battery cycler for discharging and testing.
  • Maintain documentation and traceability of disassembly work.
  • Operate and follow internal SOPs and local process documents.
  • Ensure safety and PPE compliance and participate in risk assessments.
  • Develop routines to maintain product quality and process efficiency.

What You Will Be Doing:

Supporting the operation of EMR’s battery recycling process for the disassembly of High Voltage vehicle battery packs and modules by operating, maintaining & developing the Battery Disassembly Facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Removal and disassembly of high voltage batteries from vehicle to module level
  • Connect batteries to battery cycler for discharging and testing
  • Communication of disassembly status via utilisation documents
  • Maintenance of all equipmentin accordance with manufacturer’s or EMR’s procedures
  • Rectification/diagnosis of issues, engagement of Battery engineers where needed
  • Operate within and help develop internal standardised operating procedures and local process documents
  • Completion of in process records and documentationin order to maintain traceability
  • Work in line with company Health & Safety requirements together with use of required PPE
  • Performing and following risk assessments
  • Developing routines and best practices to ensure product quality
About You:
Useful Experience:
  • Minimum BTEC or NVQ level 3 qualification in a relevant field
  • IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement
  • Mechanically competent
  • Willingness to proactively learn
  • Maintain safe and tidy workplaces to 5S standards
  • A practical problem solver, capable of evaluating problems through understanding and interpreting facts and data
  • Aware of electrical automotive high voltage systems
  • An understanding of battery system fundamentals is advantageous
  • Experienced with the assembly/disassembly of complex electro/mechanical components and systems
  • Operating forklift trucks
  • Able to set up and operate basic test equipment to perform diagnostic tests
