Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Group in Cardiff or Bristol is seeking a Bat Licensed Ecologist to join our award-winning ecology team. You will work on nationally significant infrastructure projects, lead field surveys, manage programmes and budgets, and coordinate ecological mitigation and licensing.

You will hold a Natural England or NRW bat licence, be a Chartered Member of CIEEM or working towards it, and have strong report writing skills, habitat surveys, and knowledge of Defra Biodiversity Metric.

Qualifications

• Natural England / NRW bat licence required.
• Experience with mitigation licences as accredited agent.
• Full CIEEM membership or working towards it.
• Strong report writing including Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Habitats Regulations Assessments.
• Knowledge of UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments, and the Defra Biodiversity Metric.
• Project management experience including technical, financial and QA aspects.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Client-facing role with understanding of client requirements and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Plan and undertake field surveys; analyse survey results and prepare reports.
• Design and coordinate ecological mitigation and licensing strategies.
• Author and check ecological reports and licence applications.
• Support growth of the ecology team and drive work-winning in the region.
• Provide mentoring and support toward Chartered status.
