Position: Base Maintenance Manager

Reporting Line: Accountable Manager, Managing Director

Division: Production

Work Location: Wales

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, 37.5 hours per week

Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Base Maintenance Manager to become part of our clients senior leadership team. This role will see the successful individual applying broad technical and leadership expertise to oversee both Base and Line Maintenance responsibilities, aligned with the requirements of MOE 1.4.3.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and sign off all maintenance work delivered for contracted operators and customers, ensuring tasks are performed in line with approved work orders and company procedures
  • Ensure any work undertaken by internal teams or external partners/subcontractors is correctly specified, contracted, and delivered to the agreed standards
  • Provide structured feedback to the compliance monitoring function on the performance of third-party providers
  • Take corrective action in response to quality issues highlighted during internal or independent audits
  • Maintain oversight of the workforce to ensure the quality of maintenance output consistently meets the expectations of the business, regulatory authorities, and customers
  • Fulfil the Emergency Response Plan responsibilities as detailed in the Safety Management Manual
  • Notify the competent authority of any maintenance performed outside the organisation's approved facilities, in accordance with the MOE
  • Oversee the Compliance and Safety Management function, ensuring adequate resourcing to meet monitoring obligations under UK CAA requirements
  • Manage and support AOG events when required
  • Guarantee the base maintenance operation remains compliant with Part 145 and that maintenance activities are carried out in line with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Manage and, when necessary, update the MOE to remain current with UK CAA and EASA standards
Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong track record managing both Base and Line maintenance operations in accordance with Part 145 standards
  • Eligible to hold a UK CAA Form 4 and EASA Nominated Person approval
  • Holder of a UK CAA or EASA Part-66 AML (B1 or B2 with C rating)
  • Comprehensive, practical knowledge of aviation safety standards and safe maintenance practices
  • In-depth familiarity with EASA Part 145, Part 66, Part M and national regulatory requirements
  • Solid understanding of compliance and safety management systems, including application of safety management principles
  • Licensed Aircraft Engineer or equivalent academic qualification (Degree/HND)

Desirable

  • Previous certification experience on aircraft within scope of company approvals
  • Exposure to FAA, TCCA or other global aviation authority approvals
  • Prior experience leading Part 145 base maintenance at an independent MRO
  • History of holding a UK CAA Form 4 or EASA Nominated Person role
