A leading company in vocational training is looking for a Barista / Food Safety Tutor to teach aspiring Baristas in York. This role combines instruction with practical experience in a coffee shop setting, supporting learners to achieve their qualifications while enhancing their skills and employability.

Qualifications

  • Occupational competency as a Barista is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of Food Safety is required.
  • IT Literate candidate preferred.

Job description

Job Title: Barista / Food Safety Tutor (Trainee or Qualified)

Location: York - Centre based

Salary: up to £34,700 (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Type: Full Time, Permanent

Essential Criteria:
  • Must hold solid, occupational competency as a Barista.
  • Must hold a recognised vocational qualification in Barista Skills or Hospitality.
  • Must be IT Literate.
  • Must possess a sound knowledge of Food Safety.
  • Willingness to work towards PTLLS/AET - fully funded and supported by employer.
Duties include:
  • Teach/assess aspiring Baristas through a Level 2 vocational qualification, embedding Literacy and Employability skills.
  • Ensure sessions are motivating, engaging, and develop learners' skills, knowledge, and behaviours.
  • Manage an on-site Coffee shop to provide hands-on experience opportunities for learners.
  • Work in partnership with local employers to source work experience opportunities for learners.
  • Overcome barriers to learning and adapt delivery to meet learners' needs.
  • Monitor student attendance and progress through regular assessments and reviews.
  • Provide advice and guidance to learners relating to decision-making and progression.

  • Organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to plan your time effectively.
  • Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate people.
  • Quality-driven and willing to go the extra mile for your learners.
