We are looking for a passionate Barista to educate our customers on brand, product and drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of all things coffee and coffee machines. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent drinking experience for our guests. Normal hours of work is 42 hours per week normally worked between 7.00am to 7.00pm Monday-Friday and 8.00am-7.00pm Saturday-Sunday, exclusive of lunch breaks

Key Responsibilities and Activities:

To maintain excellent customer relations and to constantly strive to improve customer service in line with illy policy

To operate cash registers, preparation and/or service of food and beverages

To complete daily cleaning schedules and carry out other cleaning duties as required

All work to be carried out with a customer focused attitude, providing excellent customer service with a proactive work ethic

To undertake any other duties commensurate with the position or grade

Must have a flexible approach to working

Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding the coffee, brand and ingredients

Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)

Prepare beverages following recipes

Serve beverages and prepared food for serving

Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)

Keep the bar area clean

Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates

Check if brewing / machine equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs

Comply with health and safety regulations

Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items

Experience

Previous work experience as a Barista ideal, or minimum as a Waiter/Waitress

Hands-on experience with coffee machines and related brewing equipment ideal – if not training will be provided

Basic knowledge and understanding of sanitation practices

Flexibility to work various shifts

Basic math skills

Ability to gauge customers’ preferences

Right to legally work in the UK

Can work independently and in a team
