Job Description
Our Operator client is currently recruiting for the position of Barge Master, based offshore on a 2/3 rotation in the North Sea.
Responsibilities:
- Understand process safety and major accident hazard management to contribute effectively to business decisions impacting process safety.
- Commit to incident-free operations.
- Provide input to major accident hazard management, including prevention, detection, control, mitigation, and response to major accidents.
- Ensure marine & deck activities protect health, safety, environment, and welfare of personnel and assets.
- Execute work programs safely, competently, and timely, with proper prioritization and resource allocation to meet asset goals.
- Build effective relationships with other departments and shifts.
- Manage heading control and station keeping.
- Operate cargo storage, export, ballast control, and power systems, ensuring compliance with assurance schemes.
- Manage marine diesel oil and freshwater quality, report usage, and advise on weather and stock levels.
- Oversee lifting and rigging operations, including equipment maintenance, certification, and risk assessments.
- Ensure operational and maintenance activities adhere to safety systems, supervise contractors, and manage time effectively.
- Maintain installation safety systems and ensure readiness of evacuation and lifesaving appliances.
- Supervise, coach, and support direct reports professionally.
- Control costs within scope of responsibility.
- Coordinate inspections and maintenance of marine systems, structure, and moorings to standards.
- Contribute to work program and budget planning for upcoming years.
- Deliver continuous performance improvement and optimize offshore crew.
- Assist across facilities and manage onboard contractors.
- Recommend equipment and routine changes to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Follow company procedures and ensure comprehensive handovers.
- Participate in competence assurance and training activities.
- Ensure team competency levels meet role requirements.
- Contribute to succession planning and team development.
- Manage the Marine Department on the FPSO, ensuring safe and effective operation of station keeping and marine systems, reinforcing company values, and ensuring asset integrity and compliance.
- Ensure crew health, safety, welfare, and environmental responsibilities are met.
Experience & Qualifications:
- STCW Reg II/2 (Chief Mate) experience in an FPSO supervisory role.
- Tanker Endorsement (Oil).
- Ability to foster positive relations with peers and stakeholders.
- DP or TAMS experience with DP Advanced Training.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of presenting technical issues clearly.
- Supervisory experience in offshore or similar environments and vendor management experience.
- Preferably holds a Masters Certificate of Competency.
