Job summary

South Devon College is seeking an Hourly Paid Trainer Facilitator for Barbering in Paignton. You will deliver engaging sessions, prepare materials, assess student work and contribute to curriculum development.

Role requires Level 3 Barbering, teaching or training experience, and a willingness to attain assessor/teaching qualifications. Excellent benefits and a supportive college culture are offered.

Qualifications

• A relevant Barbering qualification at Level 3.
• Commercial experience within the barbering industry.
• Previous teaching or training experience.
• An assessor qualification, such as D32/33 or A units, or a willingness to work towards one.
• A teaching qualification or a commitment to achieve one within three years.
• Strong subject knowledge and good IT skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively with learners of different ages.
• A flexible approach and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A commitment to equality, safeguarding and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and facilitate engaging learning sessions for Barbering students.
• Prepare suitable learning materials and use a variety of delivery methods to meet individual learner needs.
• Assess students’ work and contribute to verification and moderation processes.
• Support the planning, development and review of learning programmes and curriculum resources.
• Provide guidance to learners and contribute to their learning plans, assessments and targets.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Complete accurate course records, registers and other relevant documentation.
• Contribute to quality assurance, curriculum reviews and continuous improvement.
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues, students and external contacts.
