Bar Manager

The Blacksheep Bar & Club Lounge, Union Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight.

About Us:

We are a busy bar (also serving food), on Union Street in the heart of Ryde. We boast a large patio area. We are at the heart of nightlife in Ryde and thrive on seeing our patrons enjoy their day in the sun or partying with us in the evening. We also have a nightclub that is hired out for all kinds of private hire events and public music/themed events.

About the Role:

As our Bar Manager you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our bar and food service. You will promote, generate more business for and run events for, the whole venue, including our downstairs club. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the bar team, managing stock and inventory, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, and ensuring high standards of service. They will also be involved in some menu development, staff training, marketing & social media and future venue developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and motivate bar staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.Also liaising with the kitchen team to ensure smooth food service.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure smooth and efficient bar operations, including opening and closing procedures, stock management, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service, handle customer inquiries and complaints, and create a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Menu Development: Contribute to the creation and development of innovative and appealing drinks and food menus.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety regulations, licensing laws & objectives, and Environmental Health regulations (where applicable).
  • Inventory Management: ?Manage bar stock levels.
  • Marketing: Promoting and running events in our nightclub and generating more business for the club. Also promoting the upstairs and using social media to boost awareness and following.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager or similar role within a fast-paced bar environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to control costs.
  • A good base knowledge of cocktails, beers, wines & spirits and general bar/restaurant operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Food hygiene and safety certification (we can assist with this if you do not have an up to date certificate).
