Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, food- and table service-oriented Manager to join our team at the BFI Bar & Kitchen.

The BFI Bar & Kitchen is one of the most accessible venues in Central London, located in the heart of the ‘Home of British Cinema’. During the day, enjoy hot drinks, sandwiches, and salads in our lounge; in the evening, the venue comes alive with a superb wine list, cocktails, and a secret speakeasy cocktail bar accessible through a sliding bookcase.

The venue is a destination in its own right but also benefits from the footfall of the BFI’s 4 screens, supporting festivals and events, culminating in the annual London Film Festival in autumn.

Contract: Full Time / Permanent

• 5-day working week
• Mixture of shifts, focusing on evenings

About the Bar Manager role:

• Deliver a seasonally changing drinks list, collaborating on wine curation and specials
• Lead the team in exceptional bar and table service
• Collaborate with our Events Team and sister venue The Riverfront within the BFI building
• Engage in product and supplier development
• Supervise, train, manage, and motivate the team
• Maintain high standards of service
• Over-achieve customer experience and expectations
• Work continuously to improve sales and service
• Support team performance through evaluations, training, and mentoring
• Ensure Food and Health & Safety standards are always upheld

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have solid food and beverage knowledge, excellent customer service, and leadership skills. A willingness to learn and develop in all aspects of food and drink is essential. Must be a team player who enjoys what we do!
