Job summary

Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Bar and Catering Assistant to join our dynamic catering team. You will deliver friendly service across student bars, cafes and restaurants, making drinks and handling till duties while supporting a small team in a busy university environment.

Flexible with hours including evenings and weekends, you will help maintain health and safety records and assist with deliveries and stock.

Responsibilities

Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a Bar and Catering Assistant to be a part of our dynamic team within the University's catering environment. As Bar and Catering Assistant you'll provide exceptional customer service to students, staff, and visitors in the Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Catering environments, hospitality and behind a bar serving drinks.

The duties for this role include:

• Providing efficient and friendly service to all customers at the University Student bar, cafes and restaurant.
• Making hot and cold Barista Drinks, serving behind a till, stocking up, completing digital Health and Safety records, cleaning to a high standard, receiving and storing deliveries.
• We have a small team and so teamwork is important to support colleagues and foster a strong team.
• We also run catering and hospitality across the university and the successful candidate would be expected to work across the other cafes, bar and restaurant if needed.

The successful candidate needs a flexible approach to working as a Barista, Bartender and Catering Assistant within our varied .

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous Bar experience including, pouring and serving drinks, and working in a bar environment.
• Understands health and safety protocols.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Is flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Salary and benefits:

Actual £10,218 rising to £10,392 (pro-rated £28,249 rising to £28,732). Salary is Grade 2 on the College's London Pay Scale, which includes London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:

Permanent, part-time contract (20 hours a week) and term time only.
