Job description

We are actively seeking a new Banqueting Sous Chef to help prepare and cook delicious food at South Lodge Hotel & Spa.

You will work closely with the Head Chef and be responsible for assisting in the management of food and kitchen events, including Weddings, Conferences, Banqueting, Afternoon Tea, and Bar Food.

This is a challenging but rewarding role. You will be expected to help manage the team in producing top-quality cuisine and assist in training talented chefs. You will take charge in the absence of the Head Chef and undertake any specific functions of Kitchen management.

Role Responsibilities
  • Ensure the smooth running of kitchen operations at all times.
  • Implement sound stock control measures.
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu writing and planning, and stay proactive in industry trends.
  • Maintain high standards of food and service.
  • Manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Order stock as necessary in conjunction with the Head Chef.
  • Manage financial aspects, including costings, invoices, and revenue figures.
  • Maintain high levels of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and staff development in collaboration with the Head Chef and HR.
  • Carry out any reasonable requests from the Executive/Head Chef or General Manager.
