Job summary

Panda is seeking a safety-focused Banksman at our Sheffield site to help manage vehicle movements in a busy yard. You will work with drivers, weighbridge operators and site teams to keep operations safe and efficient, with emphasis on clear communication and adherence to site rules.

This hands-on role is outdoors; you will be expected to stay aware, follow procedures, and support other teams as needed. Prior yard/recycling/logistics experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely control vehicle movements throughout the yard.

• Report non-compliant drivers and ensure PPE is followed.

About the Role

We’re looking for a safety-focused Banksman to help manage vehicle movements at our Sheffield site.

As a Banksman, you’ll work closely with drivers, weighbridge operators and site teams to ensure vehicles move safely and efficiently around the yard. This is a hands‑on, outdoor role suited to someone who communicates clearly, stays alert and is confident working in a busy operational environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Safely control vehicle movements throughout the yard
• Give clear instructions and signals to drivers
• Communicate with weighbridge operators and operational teams
• Ensure first‑time visitors complete the required site induction
• Monitor compliance with site operating times and traffic rules
• Report drivers who fail to follow movement instructions
• Ensure PPE requirements are followed
• Keep the yard clear of debris, obstacles and potential hazards
• Arrange cleaning support when required
• Assist other site teams when needed

About You

• Have strong communication skills
• Be confident giving clear instructions to drivers
• Be safety‑conscious and observant
• Work well as part of a team
• Be comfortable working independently
• Be prepared to work predominantly outdoors
• Ideally have experience in a yard, recycling, logistics or similar operational environment
