Reliable Contractors LTD on the Devonport site in Plymouth is seeking an experienced Banksman for a full-time, on-site role. The position requires a valid CPCS Plant and Vehicle Marshaller A73 and Safety Critical Medical, with BPSS eligibility. This role offers long-term work with secure, regular income and a lodge/digs allowance of £53.69 per day (where eligible).

Start is ASAP after vetting, medical and on-site induction. Hours: Mon-Fri, 7:00–17:30 with overtime.

• Assist with site traffic management and ensure designated routes are followed.
• Monitor work areas for hazards and report unsafe conditions to site management.
• Ensure marshalling activities align with site procedures and risk assessments.
• Work with supervisors, drivers and plant operatives to maintain safe site operations.
• Follow RAMS and health and safety requirements.

BANKSMAN - DEVONPORT - FULLTIME

A chance to work on one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK.

Reliable Contractors are recruiting for an experienced Banksman to join the Devonport project.

Long-term work is available for the right candidate with the correct cards, tickets and experience, offering stable employment and regular income for the foreseeable future.

Assignment Details

• Employment Type: Full-time
• Payment Basis: PAYE
• Paid Holidays: 31 days per year (including bank holidays)
• Start Date: As soon as possible following successful vetting checks, medical and on-site induction
• Assignment Duration: Ongoing / until further notice
• Location: Plymouth

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

Must Have

• Valid CPCS Plant and Vehicle Marshaller A73 qualification.
• Valid Safety Critical Medical.
• Previous experience working as a Banksman or Plant and Vehicle Marshaller on a construction site.
• Good understanding of plant and vehicle movements and site traffic management procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly with plant operators, drivers and site personnel.
• Good awareness of site health and safety requirements.
• Reliable and proactive attitude towards work.
• Meet the BPSS security clearance eligibility criteria.

Role and Responsibilities

• Marshal plant, vehicles and deliveries safely around the site.

• Assist with site traffic management and ensure designated routes are followed.

• Ensure all marshalling activities are carried out in accordance with site procedures and risk assessments.
• Work closely with supervisors, drivers and plant operatives to maintain safe and efficient site operations.
• Follow all site rules, RAMS and health and safety requirements.

Shifts

Working days: Monday to Friday.

Start time: 7:00am-7:30am.

Finish time: 5:00pm-5:30pm.

Overtime

Monday to Friday: Time and a third after 10 hours.

Nights: Time and a third.

Saturdays and Sundays: Time and a half.

All night hours: Time and a half.

The successful candidate will be expected to promote and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring site rules, procedures and relevant health and safety requirements are followed.

Key risks associated with the role include:

• Moving plant and vehicles: Maintain safe exclusion zones and follow site traffic management procedures.
• Reversing vehicles: Use agreed signals and maintain clear communication with drivers and operators.
• Blind spots: Position yourself where you remain visible to operators and never stand in unsafe areas.
• Pedestrian movements: Maintain safe segregation between pedestrians and moving vehicles or plant.
• Communication failures: Follow agreed marshalling signals and communication procedures at all times.
• Slips, trips and falls: Keep access routes clear and remain aware of uneven or obstructed ground.

All site-specific risks and control measures must be confirmed through the project RAMS, risk assessments and site induction.
