Job description

Eden Scott's client is seeking a candidate who is available for a Banking Payment Analyst to join their expanding team based in Edinburgh. The role will be hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.

Responsibilities
  1. Monitor the daily shared mailbox, responding promptly to internal and external queries.
  2. Perform end-of-day checks on all online banking systems to ensure payments are released.
  3. Investigate and resolve payment processing issues across domestic and international transactions (BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, SWIFT).
  4. Ensure timely and accurate processing of high-volume payments in compliance with internal controls and regulations.
  5. Liaise with internal teams, banks, and external stakeholders to facilitate the smooth flow of funds and resolve queries.
  6. Identify process inefficiencies and support automation and improvement initiatives within the payments function.
  7. Perform reconciliations, handle exceptions, and assist with month-end reporting related to cash movements and payment activity.
  8. Stay updated on payment regulations and industry changes, providing insights and updates to the team.
Person Specification
  1. Relevant experience in a back office, middle office, operations, or similar function within a banking or financial services organization.
  2. Experience with UK Payment schemes is preferred.
  3. Knowledge of bank payments and account-to-account transfers.
  4. Ability to develop understanding of diverse financial products.
  5. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  6. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  7. Strong analytical skills to identify problems and develop solutions.
