Job description

Leading commercial firm is looking to add to their highly-successful banking team based in Glasgow.

Role Profile:

Theteam provide expert and commercial advice in all areas of general corporate lending (including acquisition finance), real estate finance and renewables finance.The focus of thebanking team is acting lender side on transactions including acting for all of the UK clearing banks, the so-called challenger banks and investment funds. The team also advises many of the firm’s corporate and real estate clients who are undertaking transactions in the debt markets.

The team is supported by highly regarded experts in restructuring and insolvency, property, employment and licensing, all with significant experience and understanding of the way in which lending institutions operate.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage your own real estate finance and/or general corporate lending transactions for a variety of clients.
• Support with larger transactions using project and time management techniques to ensure effective management of resource and achievement of results.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the client’s business and ability to secure new work within existing client relationships.
• Participate in business development opportunities, build and help to strengthen relationships with our clients.
• Focus on financial implications and targets at a team and group level, monitor and manage expenditure and other costs/benefits against targets.
• Delegate tasks to other team members appropriate to their job role level and skill to ensure the optimum use of available resource and utilisation.
• Supervise the work delegated to other team members as a means of developing others adopting a supportive and coaching approach.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the development needs of others and provide guidance and feedback.
• Provide an excellent service to our clients by working closely with colleagues from across the UK in both the Banking team and other specialisms.

Candidate Requirements:

• Specialist Banking Solicitor (ideally 4-6 PQE).
• Qualified in Scots law, although English dual qualification would be beneficial.
• Top-tier Scottish or national firm background.
• Experience in a wide range of banking and finance matters.
• General corporate lending and/or real estate finance experience is essential.
• Flexibility in terms of work to be undertaken and level of involvement in transactions.
• Excellent drafting and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• A driven and flexible approach to working collaboratively.
• Salary is entirely dependent on experience.
