Gerrard White Consulting Limited is recruiting a Banking & Finance Associate (2-5 PQE) in Chelmsford, Essex. The role involves advising lenders, borrowers and investors on a broad financing remit, with supervision on more complex matters.

You'll work on bilateral, syndicated and real estate finance, draw on cross-border opportunities, and contribute to business development within the region. Excellent drafting and negotiation skills are essential.

Banking & Finance Associate (2-5 PQE) | Chelmsford, Essex | Permanent

Salary: Competitive + discretionary performance bonus

A leading East Anglian law firm is looking for a commercially minded Banking & Finance Associate to join its well-regarded and growing team in Chelmsford. You'll work closely with partners and senior lawyers on transactions across the region and beyond. You'll run suitable matters yourself, with supervision available on the more complex work.

The role

You'll advise lenders, borrowers and investors on a broad mix of financing work, including:

• Bilateral and syndicated lending, acquisition finance and leveraged finance
• Real estate finance, development finance and investment funding
• Asset-based lending, receivables finance, private credit and alternative lender deals
• Refinancings, restructurings, security reviews and enforcement, plus general banking advisory work
• Building client relationships and supporting business development across the region

The firm's clients include high street and challenger banks, private credit providers, corporate borrowers, investors, developers and owner-managed businesses. The work is local, national and international. The firm is a Loan Market Association member, so you'll work regularly with LMA documentation, and its membership of an international alliance of independent firms gives the team cross-border reach.

About you

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 2-5 years' PQE
• Background in a recognised banking and finance practice
• Strong technical knowledge of lending and security documentation
• Experience acting for both lenders and borrowers
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and matter management skills
• Commercial awareness, clear communication and the ability to handle competing priorities

It would help if you have experience in real estate finance, private credit, alternative lending or corporate finance, or existing contacts in the East Anglian market.
