Due to the increase in treatments and care we give to our patients, we have an exciting opportunity for a Bank - Theatre Healthcare Assistant to join and assist the Theatre department at our Portsmouth based hospital.
This will be a supporting role, where you will be playing a fundamental part in ensuring a smooth patient journey by following and documenting the complete patient pathway.
This is a Bank position, (0 hour contract)
offering casual working hours
Shift pattern: 07:45 - 17:45
As one of our Bank Healthcare Assistants, you will be assisting members of the theatre department, setting up theatre ready for patient treatment to take place. The way you will set up a theatre will be dependent on each specialty.
You will be responsible for completing the patient pathway. You'll need to competently and accurately update patient records, ensuring the patient pathway is being followed and documented.
As the Healthcare Assistant, you'll be conscious of health, safety, and hygiene aspects in a theatre. Not only will you look to make sure the theatre is clean, you'll monitor and look for potential hazards, ensuring they are made safe or the issue is quickly brought to the attention of the theatre staff.
You will have past experience of working in a hospital or clinical environment and ideally have already completed the NVQ level 1&2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
You'll be a strong communicator, confident to converse at all levels both written and verbal. You'll be the patients' advocate, communicating with them and their families and friends as well as a wide range of internal colleagues representing varied departments.
You will be computer literate. You should be familiar with MS office tools and have examples of having to quickly learn a new system as you will be using our in-house system on a daily basis.
