This role is only open to applicants that currently work within an NHS Trust within the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (HIOW ICS).

Due to expansion of the services, we are looking for two new Cancer Support Workers within the Surgical Division, specifically in Urology and Colorectal. The successful candidates will work alongside Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists to register and monitor patients through My Medical Records.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the Cancer Support Worker role is to support patients who are able to self-manage and to assist them in navigating the complex health and social care system during and after cancer treatment (Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU)/Patient Risk-Stratified Follow Up (PSFU)) using The My Medical Records (MMR) platform.

The post holder will be part of a wider network of Cancer Support Workers at HHFT but will work independently within the role's scope, under the guidance of the Clinical Nurse Specialist within the specific tumour group (e.g., breast, prostate, haematology, colorectal).

Working for our organisation

Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is central to our mission at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.

We offer specialist services to patients across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare abdominal cancer) and are leaders in tertiary liver and colorectal cancer treatments.

The trust employs over 8,600 staff and has an annual turnover of over £450 million. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors, who represent their constituencies and influence the trust's future plans.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

HHFT provides hospital services to around 570,000 residents in Hampshire and West Berkshire, including specialist services nationally. We deliver a full range of district hospital services across multiple locations.
