Job summary

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Bank Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to support school-aged children with speech, language and communication needs in mainstream settings. The role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a temporary/bank contract.

The post involves leading a new specialist service for 4-6 year olds with SLCN, providing expert advice to school staff, and supervising colleagues and students.

Responsibilities

• Taking the lead within the SLT service to deliver the new non-statutory specialist service for children 4-6 years of age with a high level of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
• Providing advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties
• Being accountable for own professional actions and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice from senior colleagues as appropriate
• The post holder will also provide some day-to-day supervision and peer review support to less experienced colleagues and students, including second opinions when necessary.
• The post holder will run appropriate training independently for school and other staff.
• The post holder will have well developed specialist skills in a specialist area of SLCN within the broad range of speech, language and communication needs encountered within the caseload of school aged children
