Job summary

Excelcare is recruiting for a Bank Senior Care Assistant nights at Limecourt Care Home in Harwich, Essex. You will lead a caring team, mentor junior staff and ensure outstanding care around the clock.

The role involves promoting independence and dignity, reporting to the Home Manager, and working with nurses to support residents with dementia and complex needs. Training is provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience as Care Assistant or Senior Care Assistant with an NVQ 2/3 in Health and Social Care or three years’ experience without NVQ.
• Experience in a nursing/care home or home care role.
• Understanding of Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulatory frameworks.
• Knowledge of dementia care is desirable.
• Experience prompting/administering medication using an electronic e-MAR system is desirable (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Care Assistants to deliver outstanding care.
• Report to the Home Manager and work with nurses and other senior staff.
• Engage residents with meaningful activities and promote independence, dignity and respect.
• Contribute to person-centred care plans and risk assessments with regular reviews.

• £14.05 per hour to £14.50 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
• 0 Hours a week (Zero hours contract)
• Shifts 8pm-8am or 8am-8pm Monday - Sunday.

About the role

• As a Senior Care Assistant/Team Leader, you will be working alongside and mentoring a team of Care Assistants to ensure that outstanding care is delivered at all times.
• You would be reporting to the Home Manager and work directly with the ancillary teams and other Senior Care Assistants and registered nurses within the home.
• You will be engaging in meaningful activities with the people living in our care home as well as always promoting independence, choice, dignity, and respect
• Your involvement with creating person-centred care plans and risk assessments will be key to the successful delivery of outstanding care and regular updates an reviews will be required

What we are looking for from you

• Two years’ experience as a Care Assistant or Senior Care Assistant with an NVQ 2/3 qualification in Health and Social Care OR three years’ experience without an NVQ
• Experience in a nursing or care home OR as a home care worker
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks – Care Quality Commission (CQC)
• Knowledge and practice of working with people suffering with dementia is desirable
• Previous experience prompting/administering medication using an electronic e-MAR system would be desirable – full training and support will be provided.
