Now is the time to break into offender healthcare and develop your career.

As part of the South West Prison Healthcare contract awarded to Oxleas NHS Trust in 2022, we are expanding our recruitment and seeking compassionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Pharmacy Technicians to join our friendly team on a bank basis at HMP The Verne.

We deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy, and Clinical Substance Misuse services within an integrated healthcare model aimed at providing effective, responsive care to improve well-being and support better outcomes.

As part of our pharmacy team, you will work within a forward-thinking service that encourages career and personal development to enhance clinical and interpersonal skills.

Under the supervision of Senior Pharmacy Technicians and Regional Pharmacists, you will contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the pharmacy and medicines management service on-site within the prison. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. All aspects of stock control (routine ordering, receipt of goods, computer input, storage of medicines).
  2. Requesting and managing prescriptions and dealing with patients’ medication requests.
  3. Working at Medication Administration Points (Meds hatches) on the wings and in the healthcare department, administering medication or acting as the second checker for controlled drug administration.
