Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton, a category C Prison located in London.

HMP Brixton is a male prison with a capacity of 800 prisoners. It is one of the oldest prisons in England which is very busy in terms of healthcare; the Bank Primary Care Nurse will need to be experienced and able to hit the ground running while bringing their clinical skills.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Salary: Bank rate of £23 an hour.

Main duties of the job

As a Primary Care Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Be an integral part of the healthcare team at HMP Brixton by bringing your clinical skills and passion for care.
  • Be involved in anything from developing and leading clinics, undertaking examinations and tests as well as answering emergency bells and potentially being the first person to attend an emergency.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
  • Have some involvement in the inpatient unit.

Qualifications required
  • Registered Adult Nurse with current registration with NMC
  • Demonstrate a passion for working in sexual health services
  • Evidence of post-registration CPD
  • Able to work autonomously as a registered professional by ongoing assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care following best practice guidance

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
