Job description

We are looking for individuals with a positive attitude to join our bank portering team at Scunthorpe General Hospital. The role involves working in positive Covid-19 areas, with full training provided.

The porter role can be demanding and requires flexibility to support operational pressures. If you have the physical agility to move patients, equipment, and materials around the hospital, and can demonstrate our values of Kindness, Courage, and Respect, we would like to hear from you.

Your responsibilities include working within a team to deliver a high-quality, responsive, and proactive porter service for the movement of patients, materials, and equipment within the site, along with other support tasks as needed.

Previous applicants need not reapply. The interview is scheduled for 16 July 2025.

The role supports a 24/7, customer-focused porter service across all hospital sites, ensuring reliability, helpfulness, and efficiency in meeting the needs of patients, staff, and visitors.

You will use a task management system via a handheld device to perform tasks such as patient movement, distribution, and handling of stores, furniture, equipment, pharmacy items, meals, pathology, blood products, waste, deceased, confidential waste, post, and laundry.

There is a 6-8 week training period. During this time, you will be expected to work Monday to Friday with various shift hours covering 24 hours. After training and gaining experience, there may be opportunities for a contracted position, currently available as a 22.5-hour contract with options for additional shifts.

The Humber Health Partnership, comprising NLAG and HUTH, serves over 1.65 million people, employing nearly 20,000 staff across five main hospital sites. We are committed to delivering excellent healthcare and fostering a diverse, inclusive, and skilled workforce.
