Job summary

Spire Harpenden Hospital is seeking an experienced Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Team on a bank basis. The role focuses on inpatient and orthopaedic ward-based services, helping post-operative patients to rehabilitation and safe discharge home.

You will manage your own caseload autonomously, assess and mobilise patients after orthopaedic and surgical procedures, and contribute to discharge planning within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration with no restrictions.
• Post-graduate physiotherapy experience in NHS, acute or private hospital setting.
• Recent inpatient physiotherapy experience essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to predominantly inpatient and post-operative orthopaedic patients.
• Manage own clinical caseload as an autonomous practitioner.
• Assess and mobilise patients following orthopaedic and surgical procedures.
• Support safe discharge planning and rehabilitation programmes.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
• Provide physiotherapy support to outpatient services when required.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation to professional standards.
• Contribute to a safe, effective and patient-focused service.

Spire Harpenden Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Team on a bank basis.

This is a flexible, ad hoc role primarily supporting our inpatient and orthopaedic ward-based services, working with post-operative patients to facilitate rehabilitation and safe discharge home.

We are particularly interested in hearing from Physiotherapists with recent experience working within acute hospital inpatient environments who are confident managing post-operative orthopaedic patients. Whilst experience across both inpatient and outpatient services would be highly desirable, our immediate priority is to strengthen our inpatient service.

The Role

• Deliver high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to predominantly inpatient and post-operative orthopaedic patients.

• Work closely within a multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.

• Contribute to the delivery of a safe, effective and patient-focused physiotherapy service.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree-qualified Physiotherapist (BSc Hons or equivalent).
• Current HCPC registration with no restrictions.
• Previous post-graduate physiotherapy experience within an NHS, acute, or private hospital setting.
• Recent inpatient physiotherapy experience is essential.
• Experience managing orthopaedic, surgical and post-operative patients.
• Confidence working independently within a ward environment.
• Experience across both inpatient and outpatient physiotherapy services would be highly desirable.
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning and organisational skills.
• Flexible approach to working patterns and clinical areas.
• Availability to work at least 1 to 2 shifts per week.

Working Hours:

Pattern of work would be weekdays and/or weekends, on average 8am-5pm
